About Pleat Calculation and Pleat Count

To calculate the number of pleats, divide the panel width by 5, then add 1.
Example:
40" panel ÷ 5 + 1 = 9 pleats
72" panel ÷ 5 + 1 = 16 pleats
84" panel ÷ 5 + 1 = 18 pleats

Default pleat multiple:
Double the amount of fabric is used to create fuller pleats.

Regarding the pleat spacing:
The pleat spacing will be slightly adjusted (the industry standard is 5 inches) to perfectly fit curtain rods with a length between 36 inches and 120 inches. It has been scientifically tested to ensure an evenly balanced draping effect of the curtains.

Measurement Guide

To determine the width of a single curtain panel:

If you already have a curtain rod or track installed, divide the total rod or track width by the number of panels you plan to hang.

If you don't have a rod yet, we recommend measuring the desired fabric width—typically the window frame width plus 16 to 20 inches for proper coverage.

For the drop length (curtain height):

The curtain fabric usually extends about 8 inches above the window frame for a fuller look.

For pleated curtains, measure from the bottom of the curtain ring (on the track) to the floor.

When using the included adjustable hooks, you can fine-tune the hanging height slightly for a better fit.

The high-heat, high-pressure process not only locks in shape, but also improves hygiene by reducing bacteria buildup.
Thanks to expert steaming and precise pressing, your curtains stay crisp, polished, and elegant over time—whether open or closed.

FAQs About Curtains

How should I measure the size of the curtains I need?

We have prepared a detailed measurement guide for you.
Need help measuring? Check out our detailed measurement guide to get it just right.

How do I determine the width of pleated curtains?

For pleated curtains, the panel width refers to the width after the pleats have been set. Generally, we use twice the amount of fabric to create the pleats and folds to ensure the best results. The panel width is measured from the left end to the right end of the pleats, rather than the distance from the left lower hem to the right lower hem.

How do I determine the length of pleated curtain styles?

Measure the length from the eyelet on the ring to the floor to determine the length of the pleated-style curtains.

When choosing a pleated curtain header style, do I need to consider the amount of pleats?

For pleated curtains, the pleats are permanently sewn in, and we typically use 200% fabric fullness.
For example, if your curtain rod or track is 100 inches long, you can order two panels, each 50 inches wide, to suit pleated header styles.

What does the stackback width refer to?

Typically, the stackback width is approximately 20% of the ordered width. Therefore, if you want the entire window opening to be visible when the curtains are open, please take the stackback width into account when choosing the length of the curtain rod.

Do I need to buy pin hooks for the pleated curtain style?

Each THREE GIRLS panel comes with adjustable plastic hooks, making it easy to fine-tune the hanging height to fit your space perfectly.

Is there any instruction regarding the number of pleats for pleated curtains?

About Pleat Calculation and Pleat Count

To calculate the number of pleats, divide the panel width by 5, then add 1.
Example:
40" panel ÷ 5 + 1 = 9 pleats
72" panel ÷ 5 + 1 = 16 pleats
84" panel ÷ 5 + 1 = 18 pleats

What size do I need to sew double-width curtains?

If the finished height is over 108", any width over 56" will require seams.
For heights of 108" or less, any width can be made seamless.
If your dimensions exceed these limits, double-width panels with vertical seams will be necessary.

What is the maximum width of curtains with memory shaping?

Memory Training Maximum Size:
width 160 inches; length 263 inches.

Is it necessary for my curtains to undergo memory shaping treatment?

Except for the linen curtains, we use high-temperature setting for every curtain. THREE GIRLS Memory Shape Training Curtain Technology enables the fabric to retain a crisp vertical line from ceiling to floor. After being shaped by body memory, your drapes will hang straight, featuring beautiful folds and no flaring at the bottom. This is unlike regular curtain fabrics, which often lose their shape towards the bottom.

How long can the curtains maintain their shape after undergoing memory shaping treatment?

It is permanent.
