Detailed Guide for Measurement
Scenario 1: Curtain Rod Is Already Installed
Step 1: Measure the Width of the Curtain Rod
Use a tape measure to determine the full length of your curtain rod. This measurement will serve as the reference width for your custom curtains.
Step 2: Measure the Height
Using a tape measure, measure vertically from the bottom of the curtain rod to the floor. This will be the reference height for your curtains.
(Tip: Every THREE GIRLS curtain panel comes with adjustable plastic hooks, allowing you to fine-tune the hanging height for a perfect fit.)
Step 3: Calculate the Curtain Size You Need
Use our Curtain Size Calculator to input the width and height you just measured. You'll instantly get a recommended curtain size based on your measurements.

Scenario 2: Curtain Rod Not Installed
Step 1: Decide Where to Install the Rod
Mount the rod 8–10 inches above the window frame to make your window appear taller. Extend it 8–10 inches beyond each side of the window so curtains can stack neatly when open. Mark these spots on the wall.
Step 2: Calculate Your Curtain Size
Use our Curtain Size Calculator, select the “Rod Not Installed” option, and enter your measurements to get the recommended curtain size.

Pinch Pleat Curtain Fullness Explained
For pinch pleat curtains, THREE GIRLS uses a standard 200% fullness for rich, elegant pleats. No need to add extra fabric—just pick your desired finished panel width, and we’ll handle the fullness during production.

Choosing Your Curtain Length
Different curtain lengths create different visual effects—choose the length that best fits your space and style.

Do I need to add extra width for pleats when ordering pinch pleat draperies?
No. THREE GIRLS includes 200% fabric fullness in every pleated panel. Just select your desired finished width—we’ll handle the rest.
How do I measure the curtain rod width if it’s not installed yet?
Mark 8–10 inches above the window for height and 8–10 inches beyond each side of the frame for width. Then measure the full span between your outermost marks.
What does “finished width” mean for pleated curtains?
The finished width is the full span of the panel when it’s fully extended—not when stacked. For an 80" rod, order two panels with a finished width of 40" each.
How much space do pleated curtains take up when open?
Each panel stacks to about 20% of its finished width. For example, a 40" panel will stack to roughly 8" when pulled open.
How do I measure for curtain length?
Measure from the bottom of the curtain ring (where the hook sits) down to the floor. This gives you an accurate drop length for your space.
Can I adjust the curtain length after hanging?
Yes. Each THREE GIRLS panel includes adjustable plastic hooks, so you can fine-tune the height without needing to remeasure or rehem.
Do the pleats hold their shape over time?
Absolutely. Every pleat is permanently sewn to maintain structure and ensure your curtains look polished and tailored for years.
