Drapery Measuring Instruction

Using our measurement guide tool makes the curtain measurement process simpler! It will guide you through every measurement step, giving you a stress-free experience. If you need a more in-depth and professional measurement, please check the detailed guide below. We can meet all your needs.

Detailed Guide for Measurement

Step 1: Measure the Width of the Curtain Rod and Determine Its Placement

If the curtain rod is already installed:
Use a measuring tape to measure its total length and record the measurement.

If the curtain rod has not been installed yet:
First, determine the ideal placement for both height and width:

Height: To make the window appear taller, install the curtain rod 8 to 10 inches above the window frame. Mark this height lightly on the wall using a pencil or masking tape.

Width: Extend the rod 8 to 10 inches beyond each side of the window frame to allow the curtains to stack neatly when opened. Mark these points on both sides. Then, measure the distance between the two outermost marks to determine the correct curtain rod width.

After marking and measuring, review your measurements to ensure accuracy before proceeding.

Step 2: Understand THREE GIRLS Default Fullness

For pinch pleat draperies, THREE GIRLS uses a standard fullness of 200% (double fullness) to create rich, elegant pleats.
You don’t need to calculate or add extra fabric—simply select the finished width you want for each panel. We’ll take care of the fullness during production.

Step 3: Determine the Finished Width of the Pleated Draperies (Examples)

Finished Width of the Drapery
The finished width of each pleated panel (measured when fully extended) will match the width you order. For example, if your curtain rod is 80 inches long, you should order two pinch pleat panels, each with a finished width of 40 inches. Measure the width from the left edge of the first pleat to the right edge of the last pleat when the panel is fully extended, not when stacked.

Fabric Fullness
We use 200% fabric fullness to achieve a rich, voluminous pleated look.

Stacked Width (when draperies are pulled open)
Each panel will stack to approximately 20% of its finished width.

Pleat Sewing
Each pleat is permanently sewn to ensure it keeps its shape for long-term use.

Step 4: Determine the Ideal Curtain Length

Different curtain lengths create different visual effects—choose the length that best fits your space and style.

How to Measure Curtain Length
Measure from the bottom of the ring where the hook attaches to the curtain rod or track, down to the floor. Each THREE GIRLS panel comes with adjustable plastic hooks, allowing you to easily fine-tune the hanging height to suit your needs.

FAQs

Is the customized curtain made according to fixed dimensions, or can it be adjusted according to my needs?

The curtain you customize will be made according to the width and length you specify, fitting your window size requirements perfectly.

What tool should be used to measure the size of the curtain? How many decimal places should the measurement result be retained to?

It is recommended to use a steel tape measure for measurement. There is no need to retain decimals for the measurement results. Just take the closest whole inch value.

What should be done when the measured value has a decimal? For example, 96.4 inches or 90.6 inches?

If the measured value has a decimal, simply round it to the nearest whole number. For instance, 96.4 inches should be recorded as 96 inches, and 90.6 inches should be recorded as 91 inches.
